Customers praise this wheel's exceptional durability for aggressive riding and bike park use. Many report years of abuse with wheels staying straight and true. Hub engagement is highly rated. Some concerns include loose spokes requiring retensioning and compatibility issues with SRAM transmission. The aluminum freehub may not handle e-MTB torque optimally.

BA30 Front Wheel

Awesome wheel

I’ve run this wheel on my specialized turbo kenevo emtb for 2 years now with cushcores. I frequently ride black and double black/pro lines around Whistler/squamish/pemberton and Whistler bike park. I’ve broken 3 wheels before this one either due to rim impacts, fatigue around the spoke holes and even ripping the teeth out of the free hub body from the torque of my emtb. This wheel stands up to the punishment of it all. My only complaint is the aluminum free hub driver. A steel driver option would help a lot to deal with emtb torque levels.

Phase30 rear rim

This is my second Chromag order and I'm very happy with both purchases. Only one ride on this new Phase30 rear rim, but love it so far.

Strong wheels

I had this wheel on my park bike for several seasons of abuse and it lasted great. I just bought another for my new park bike!

Quality

Had it out on a couple longer rides so far. Happy with the quality of the wheel build and the hub engagement compared to my ethirteen rim/shimano hub build. Don’t realize any difference in weight even though it is a burlier wheel in comparison. Very happy with it so far!

Love me some Chromag

Great product, quick shipping. Can't wait to test these out on the Kona Operator this summer.

It's alright

The spokes have come loose a few times even after being tensioned at a shop. And the position/size/spacing of the hub driver has put my cassette too far inboard to work with the sram transmission I've got on my bike

Hi Alex, thanks for your review. There is a specific driver body that you will need if you're using the new SRAM Transmission drivetrain. We will be in touch to get you the correct driver body.

Strong but so hard to mount tubeless tires on.

These built up a great heavy duty wheel set. But they’re incredibly hard to mount tires on and I had to re-tape them 3 times since the first build because the spoke bed profile is so square and recessed.

Great wheel! Light enough weight and feels responsive on the trail. Not too stiff. Stayed true for the whole season.

The Only Alloy Rim I Trust

I run these rims on both my DH and by Enduro. I have destroyed 2 of them in about 2 years but for me that's pretty good. Neither has snapped just massive dents and a 5 spoke flat spot. These rims are insanely strong and with all other alloy rims I've tried i smash them in a ride or two. I will be a lifetime BA30 customer.

Excellent Roll Model

The BA 30’s pretty much deliver as promised. They stay true to form even after the occasional heart thumping miscalculated drop. The design feature where the rubber hits the rim is completely on point

BA30 Wheel

I haven’t gotten to ride the wheel yet but it looks solid! I’ll update the review after some park thrashing.

These rims have been good to me. As I am notorious for blowing through rims they have been solid so far. Touch wood!

The same as I said

The same as I said for the front wheel... So far it is holding up, so the wheel itself seems to be good. We'll see how it does long term. Dropped a star due to issues with shipping and lack of attention to the rim tape, along with a lackluster response to both.

BA30 on BTR Belter

This is the stiffest rim I ever have. Dentproof . Stay true. Confident on maintaining riding line. Unfortunately theres a crack on the nipples hole. I change both rims with H**e rims and imediately feel BA30 much more stiffer. Now Im thingking to back to BA30

One tough rim

This is the only rim I now trust. I’m a super aggressive and hard rider and have been through lots of rims and this is the rim that can take all of the abuse! Would def recommend!

Strong and solid.

This wheels are amazing. I have a pair on my Rootdown and after two years of hard riding they’re still straight. They hold inserts pretty well too. I’ll definitely buy some for my next trail bike.

Super stoked

Bought my BA30 rear laced to the R4 hub over a month ago and cannot be happier. This wheel has exceeded my expectations and is still straight as an arrow and Taking everything I have thrown at it. Very solid set up and looks great on the bike. The addition of this wheel and a BA30 front has made my bike feel very solid on the trails and taking the abuse I throw at them in the park. I recommend this wheel to anyone that has asked.

Does the job

I'm pretty heavy and have a habit of breaking wheels. So far these have been fantastic. Rims haven't got so much as a ding and the hubs do what they're meant to. Would recommend to a friend.

BA30 wheels

Best wheels I have ever had. I've had one on my hardtail for three years and it hasn't even seen a spoke key. Also have a pair on my trail bike going strong after a year or so.

W
Woj
Solid, no nonsense

The most durable rim I’ve used on a simple, tried-and-true hub that works well and is easy to maintain. Wheels have withstood well over a year of my poor line choice and inadequate skills and don’t look much worse for wear- would recommend.

Reliable and look good

I'm running these rims on both my hardtail and my trail bike. They can take a good beating and look good doing it. Schwalbe tires are a tight fit, get some good levers! I can get Maxxis on by hand though.

M
Matias
Tough to a degree

I’ve been sending them hard for kind of two years, they were nice until de the hippie holes cracked, the rim still straight. I’m a bike mechanic and build them to specs torque an all... Anyways two years of mayhem is not bad at all

J
Joel
Nice

I built the wheels myself and got them straighter than any wheel I've seen before. So straight that when you spun them fast they looked like they were sitting still. Been bashing them hard for a year on hardtail with no problems.

P
Peter
no complaints!

Been running BA30s laced to R4 hubs for about 8 months now. Found them pretty bombproof. Cased a few things that my bike should not have rolled out of unscathed, only to find my wheels were still spinning perfectly true and undented. Could probably get away with running a phase up front!

Ba 30 rims

They look great and are relatively light however they had severe wobble after 2 weeks of riding and felt like I was hitting a speed bump every half second. To top it off I discovered a crack along the spoke hole a week later and I didn’t even hit it on any distinct feature. At this point I was rather disappointed in chromag. Wouldn’t recommend to be honest

Hi Aaron,
We want to fix this. I can’t speak to the wobble but I would really like to take care of situation with the spoke holes. We'll be in touch asap.

Ba30 rims

These rims are dynamite! Have ridden them for almost a full season and haven't had to true them at all, they are still perfectly straight.
